Rodney L. McCrowre, DBA, assistant chair and assistant professor of management at Fayetteville State University's Broadwell College of Business and Economics, was selected for Leadership North Carolina's Class 34 for the 2026-27 program year, the organization announced Oct. 13.
The competitive program brings together 56 leaders from across the state representing government, business, education and nonprofit organizations. Participants examine issues facing North Carolina and explore opportunities to strengthen their communities through leadership and public service.
For McCrowre, the experience offers an opportunity to establish statewide connections that could benefit FSU students and the communities the university serves.
“As a proud Fayetteville State University alumnus, I am deeply honored to join Leadership North Carolina Class 34, an opportunity that reflects the transformative power of education, mentorship and servant leadership,” McCrowre said in a press release. “I am especially grateful to FSU’s leadership for recognizing my potential and encouraging me to pursue this experience, which I intend to leverage to cultivate meaningful statewide partnerships, expand opportunities for our students, and strengthen the university's impact across North Carolina.”
At FSU, McCrowre's contributions extend across academic leadership and student success. In addition to teaching management courses, he serves as the university’s faculty athletics representative and coordinates the SECU Public Fellows Internship Program, which connects students with paid internships at public and community organizations. His work also includes academic advising and mentoring to help students prepare for professional careers.
Leadership North Carolina's Core Program addresses six statewide issues: government, education, inclusive leadership, health and human services, economic development and the environment. Class 34 participants will attend seven sessions in communities across the state featuring discussions with government and industry leaders, site visits and experiential learning activities.
McCrowre previously participated in the UNC System Executive Leadership Institute’s sixth cohort in 2025. His selection to Leadership North Carolina follows Wesley Fountain, vice chancellor for External Affairs and University Advancement, who graduated from the statewide program as a member of Class 31 in May 2024.
