Sandhills Community College, in partnership with Moore County Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department and Habitat for Humanity of the Sandhills, is proud to announce that Union Pines High School student Connor Donathan has officially begun a Construction Site Supervisor pre-apprenticeship.
Through this pre-apprenticeship program, Donathan is gaining hands-on experience and real-world exposure to the construction industry under the guidance of industry professionals. This opportunity serves as a key stepping stone in building practical skills and exploring career pathways in site management and residential construction.
Upon successful completion of the short-term pre-apprenticeship, Donathan may have the opportunity to transition into a full registered apprenticeship with Habitat for Humanity of the Sandhills, opening doors to continued professional training, mentorship and long-term employment opportunities.
"We are thrilled to see Connor take this significant step toward his future career," said Director of Workplace Learning Programs at Sandhills Community College Jason Levister in a press release. "Partnerships between education and local industry are vital for giving students direct access to high-demand trades, and we are deeply grateful to Habitat for Humanity of the Sandhills for investing in the next generation of construction leaders."
This collaboration highlights the ongoing commitment of Sandhills Community College and Moore County Schools to provide high school students with structured, career-focused learning experiences that connect classroom education with local workforce needs.
