Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce announces Dunn Area Chamber Foundation to expand community and economic impact

By Staff Report, posted 59 minutes ago

The Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the addition of the Dunn Area Chamber Foundation, an extended arm of the Chamber created to support long-term community growth, workforce development, education, leadership development and economic opportunity throughout Dunn and the surrounding region.

The Foundation was established to build upon the Chamber’s mission of supporting business and community success while creating new opportunities for grant funding, charitable giving, programming and partnerships. Through the Foundation, the Chamber will be able to pursue initiatives that strengthen the local workforce, support small businesses, invest in future leaders and help create a stronger foundation for continued growth in Dunn, Harnett County and the surrounding region.

“Our vision for the Dunn Area Chamber Foundation is to help create a thriving community where businesses, families and individuals have the opportunity to grow, succeed and prosper,” said CEO of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce and Foundation Kristina Harrell in a press release.

Desired Foundation initiatives include future workforce and trades training programs, scholarship opportunities, leadership development, small business and entrepreneurship support, educational partnerships, business impact events and programs that respond to the needs of local employers. The Foundation will also provide a platform for businesses, individuals and community partners to support the meaningful work of the Foundation through sponsorships, grants, donations and volunteer engagement.

As an early example of the Foundation’s potential impact, the Dunn Area Chamber Foundation was recently awarded a $25,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation. This funding will support opportunities for local small businesses, and the Foundation is now accepting applications through Oct. 18.
