A day for Bronco Pride Hall: Fayetteville State University cuts ribbon for new $50M residential hall

Fayetteville State University Chancellor Darrell T. Allison cuts the ribbon at the opening of Bronco Pride Hall on Aug. 11, 2025, in Fayetteville, N.C. The ceremony, marking the launch of the $50 million, 336-bed residence hall, brought together students, alumni, and community leaders to celebrate the university's commitment to enhancing campus living.

Just in time for move in day, students at Fayetteville State University (FSU) will have a new housing option on the continuously growing campus.

This morning, Aug. 11, FSU faculty, staff, students, elected representatives and all contributing partners gathered to cut the ribbon on Bronco Pride Hall, a four-story residential housing option for students that covers 87,930 square-feet.

The new residence hall was built Metcon Construction of Pembroke, and includes a steel frame on a concrete slab foundation,  while providing a modern and welcoming environment for FSU’s growing student population.

Designed to blend comfort, convenience and community—all under one roof, the space will be home to 336 students – primarily freshmen and sophomores – in single- and double-occupancy units each with a private bathroom. Bronco Pride Hall features double occupancy rooms designed for collaboration and comfort with twin-size beds and layouts inspired by the popular Renaissance Hall.

Community amenities include a full-size kitchen on the first floor, a full-size laundry room and multiple study rooms.

“This new residence hall is more than just brick and mortar,” said Dr. Juanette Council, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. “It is a powerful investment in our students and their success at Fayetteville State University. Somewhere within these walls, dreams will be realized.”

The new building replaces the previous Vance Hall which, according to leadership, had fallen into disrepair.

“The sad reality in March 2021 [was,] not only was Vance Hall in a condition that could no longer house our students, Fayetteville State University was in a financial position where we didn't have the funds to demolish the building. In addition, it had unfortunately become an eyesore off Langdon St., a blight on the community. Simply put, we, bronco nation, were better than that, and so we went to work,” shared FSU Chancellor Darrell Allison. “Now to the name; Bronco Pride Hall. I want you to know that it wasn't the chancellor nor the Board of Trustees nor this administration that mandated the name of this new residence. It truly originated from the hearts and minds and spirits of our students.”

Bronco Pride Hall serves as  a place for students to begin to build their legacies.
