Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch (Inasmuch) announced today the development of Inasmuch Village, a new 16-cottage community that will provide permanent housing for homeless veterans in Fayetteville. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 19, 2026, with the first residents expected to move in in 2027.
Located near Inasmuch's campus at 531 Hillsboro Street, Inasmuch Village will consist of 16 fully furnished one-bedroom cottages, including 12 accessible homes and four homes specially designed for individuals with disabilities. Residents will pay rent on a sliding scale based on 30% of their income, with applications administered through Inasmuch.
Inasmuch Village draws inspiration from successful tiny home community models in North Carolina and across the country.
Designed by Fayetteville architect Andrew “Andy” Privette, each approximately 600-square-foot cottage will provide residents with privacy, stability and access to a supportive community. The development will also include a community gathering space, green areas, and pet-friendly accommodations.
“I believe the Village will be a catalyst for community transformation,” said Pastor Craig Morrison, executive director of Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch, in a press release. “Veterans have put their lives on the line for us, and we've got to look out for them.”
The project was made possible through an initial $2 million investment from local philanthropists Ralph and Linda Huff of Huff Family Office, who partnered with Inasmuch to bring the vision to life.
“Everything that we have done in our business was made possible because of the military,” said Ralph and Linda Huff in a press release. “This is just one way we can give back.”
Planning for the project grew out of conversations and neighborhood outreach efforts, including prayer walks, conducted by Inasmuch beginning in 2023. The Village will be located near downtown Fayetteville and the Murchison Road corridor, an area experiencing continued investment and revitalization. 
Since 2007, Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch has served individuals experiencing homelessness through daily meals, showers, laundry, medical care, hygiene resources, and both transitional and residential housing programs. In addition to operating the 30-bed Living Hope Program at The Lodge, the organization also provides independent-style housing through its Growing Resilience Program.
