The Cumberland County Government welcomed more than 30 students for the 2024 Internship Program orientation held July 8.
Students met with staff from their assigned departments and enjoyed lunch as they discussed goals and expectations for the length of the program.
For the next several weeks, students will participate in a paid internship which aims to form leadership skills, mentorship and hands-on experience in various career fields. Interns will work with multiple County departments including, Planning and Inspections, Social Services and Innovation and Technology Services.
During orientation, Cumberland County Chairman Glenn Adams and County Manager Clarence Grier greeted the interns and offered tips for success.
“I’m excited about this program,” said Grier in a press release. “It provides an opportunity for high school and college students to learn more about Cumberland County and government. We hope they pursue a career in public service after graduation.”
