Fayetteville City Attorney Karen McDonald is the new president of North Carolina Association of Municipal Attorneys, City of Fayetteville officials announced in a press release on Friday.

The new appointment occurred during NCAMA’s summer conference.

McDonald grew up in Fayetteville and has worked in municipal law since 1995. She has held a variety of positions locally over the years, to include assistant city attorney, Cumberland County staff attorney and city attorney.

“I am excited to be entrusted with the leadership and direction of the only statewide organization dedicated to the exchange of information and awareness of current issues involving municipalities,” McDonald said.

“We are excited and extremely proud of Attorney Karen McDonald for her appointment as President of the NCAMA,” Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin said. “Mrs. McDonald has served our city well since 2002, advising us through very important and difficult decisions. I am confident she will lead with the same expertise and command of the issues she has displayed as our City Attorney.”
