Cape Fear Valley Health is pleased to announce the addition of comprehensive allergy services at its Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) clinic in Lillington, expanding access to specialized care for patients experiencing environmental allergies.
The new allergy clinic will offer in-office testing and personalized treatment plans to help patients better understand and manage their symptoms. Allergy evaluations will begin with a skin prick test, the preferred initial method for identifying environmental allergens. During this test, small amounts of common allergens are gently introduced to the skin — typically on the forearm or back — to observe for immediate reactions.
Based on the results of the skin prick test, providers may recommend additional evaluation through an intradermal test, which involves injecting a small amount of allergen just beneath the skin for more sensitive detection of lower-level allergic responses.
Following testing, providers will work closely with each patient to develop a customized treatment plan tailored to their specific needs.
Allergy shots, also known as subcutaneous immunotherapy, are a highly effective treatment. This therapy works by gradually introducing increasing amounts of allergens to build the body’s immune tolerance over time. Treatment typically spans three to five years and can provide lasting symptom relief.
“This new service allows us to bring convenient, high-quality allergy care closer to home for our patients in Lillington,” said a provider at the clinic in a press release. “By offering on-site testing and treatment, we can help patients find relief and improve their quality of life.”
