Phillip’s Towing Services has been awarded a $120,000 “Building Reuse Grant” from The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) through the City of Fayetteville. These funds will allow the company to renovate and expand its operations, which will result in a significant capital investment in the community and the creation of at least 10 new jobs.

Announced in a press release this morning, this grant will advance Phillip’s Towing Service’s goals of increased operational efficiency and improved customer engagement, expanding its services within the region. Plans include establishing a corporate office at their current location in Fayetteville and constructing a well-equipped call center to serve citizens across Eastern North Carolina. As a result of the project associated with this Grant, Phillip’s Towing will more than double its current staff.

“Thanks to the generous support of the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Rural Economic Development Division, we at Phillip’s Towing Service are excited to embark on a journey of expansion and innovation,” said Phillip McCorquodale, owner of Phillip’s Towing Service in a press release. “We’re immensely grateful for this opportunity to grow and support the community for years to come.”

Grants through the NC Department of Commerce are awarded to local governments to support the renovation or expansion of buildings that are either vacant or have been occupied by a company operating in the state of North Carolina for at least twelve months. As part of the grant, companies must meet the weekly wage standard and provide employee benefits. More information about this and other grant programs can be found at https://fcedc.biz/ncdocgrants.

“The Building Reuse Grant is a fantastic program that allows qualifying businesses to offset a portion of the costs associated with an expansion, creating jobs and increasing private sector investment in our community,” said Robert Van Geons, President & CEO of the Fayetteville Cumberland Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) in a press release. “We appreciate Phillip’s Towing allowing us to assist them with this project. We’d like to sincerely thank the staff at the City of Fayetteville for their support during the grant preparation process and the Department of Commerce for approving their application.”

The City of Fayetteville and Cumberland County have made supporting local businesses a top priority. This expansion allows Phillips Towing Service to continue its twenty-three-year legacy of providing reliable towing and recovery services while fostering a supportive and growth-oriented work environment.
