A new furniture store is now ready to welcome the public of Fayetteville through its doors.

Bob’s Discount Furniture, one of the nation’s fast-growing furniture retailers, hosted a grand opening ceremony for their new Fayetteville location, previously a Bed Bath & Beyond, at 5075 Morganton Road.

The interior of the building, a total of 32,684 square-feet, has been completely remodeled to include the brand’s selection of dining sets, couches, mattresses, bedroom sets and more.

The new Fayetteville location is one out of 20 new stores opening in 2025 with six planned for North Carolina. This marks Bob’s entry into the Southeast.

“We’re excited to bring our on-trend assortment of furniture, mattresses and home accents at everyday low prices to new customers and markets,” said Chief Operating Officer Ramesh Murthy in a press release. “Adding new territories also allows us to make a local impact on more communities by generating jobs and providing support to local schools and nonprofits, things that have been core to Bob’s since our founding over 30 years ago.”

Other cities with locations planned include Durham, Wilmington, Jacksonville, Winston-Salem and Cary, one of which will mark the chain’s 200th location.

According to leadership at Bob’s, the goal is to establish memorable customer service with each guest.

“Every customer that comes in here, [the goal] should be, not selling to them, but building a relationship. They’re in here for a reason, they’re coming in because they need something and our job is to make them feel comfortable, lead them, not sell them, lead them. Make sure they understand all of the great things we have,” shared Senior Vice President Chuck James.

Along with a ribbon cutting ceremony, the Bob’s team also commemorated with the occasion with a welcome from the City of Fayetteville presented by Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Jensen and with two charitable check presentations to local chapters of the United Services Organization (USO of North Carolina) (pictured bottom) and the Green Beret Foundation (pictured on top), with each receiving $25,000 and $2,500 respectively.

“On behalf of the Green Beret Foundation, thank you so much. It's been mentioned a time or two that we are home of the Special Operations. I actually grew up in Fayetteville. My dad was in the 3rd Special Forces Group, and my husband is as well. So not only as a member of the community, but also as a professional of the organization, I can tell you that we serve in large numbers. We are a global organization supporting Green Berets overseas, as well as here at home. And I can tell you that we are here. We have representatives in the area, and our mission is to serve all generations. We are unique in that capacity, because we're the only special operations organization that does serve all generations,” shared Green Beret Foundation Director of Communications & Marketing Jenna Angues as she accepted the award on behalf of the organization.

Tommy Walker, area operations manager for the USO of North Carolina also shared that the funding received will be going towards the services, programs and operational needs of the organization.

“We have the [location at] the Fayetteville airport, and then we have the Fort Bragg center on the base. The Fort Bragg center on the base right now is averaging over 10,000 people a month walking through. In regard to the Fayetteville airport, the USOs, those people aren't just service members, it's service members and families and dependents,” shared Walker. “They can come into the center and enjoy the amenities of the center, but one of our biggest pieces is programmatic. We do a lot of programming for service members and families.”

The Bob's Discount Furniture Fayetteville location has already had a practice run with customers, holding a soft opening on June 30, now the staff are ready to greet the Fayetteville community Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“We just want them to understand that we have the best prices around, we offer people to look and shop around. It's no hassle, no pressure and we just love giving the best service possible. We're all about integrity, we're all about just being honest and open front with our guests, and just building relationships and having fun with people,” shared Store Manager Rich Smith.
