Slim Chickens is coming to Pembroke within walking distance of UNCP. The new restaurant is expected to open Monday, Aug. 28 at 807 W. 3rd Street assuming the final steps of construction all remain on schedule. This will be North Carolina’s third Slim Chickens location.

Jonathan Crumpler, a Fayetteville native, and Rob Bryan formed Break Bread Ventures in January of 2021 and signed their first franchise development agreement with Slim Chickens. While Break Bread Ventures is based in Charlotte, NC, the team plans to continue their growth across the state bringing Slim Chickens to new communities, including Fayetteville.

“We hit it off with the Slim’s leadership. We like that they’re a growing brand,” remarked Bryan. “...getting to be a franchisee for a growing brand gave us the opportunity to build our own culture.”

Aside from bringing its fried chicken and Southern-inspired sides, the new Slim Chickens location in Pembroke will also make a positive economic impact with over 75 new jobs anticipated for creation in the community.

The new location will be across the street from UNCP.

“So I really love the community down in Robeson, particularly in Pembroke. And so part of the reason we were drawn there was the growth of the university has been really strong,” shared Bryan.

Part of Slim’s design is to have a covered porch area, but Bryan shared they intend to also add an area for playing cornhole behind the building and to cater to the students nearby and make this a place where they can come and hang out.
