A specialty restaurant in Downtown Fayetteville announced they will be closing their doors for good. Quesadilla fans in Fayetteville will have one more day to enjoy the unique offerings of The Quesadilla Gallery located at 132 Person St. after it was announced the only location will be closing after its lunch shift on Thursday Aug. 10.

Owner and Founder Basil Hasapis said the decision was made to be able to focus on his other local franchise, the Fried Turkey Sandwich Shop which currently has two locations on Owen Drive and Paintersmill Dr.

“I'm really trying to promote those a little bit more. I'm really trying to expand the company and getting in a different direction and more and more locations does not necessarily mean more success,” said Hasapis. “I switched the concept to an easier concept which did pretty well. But with that store there’s limited square footage and I couldn’t get out of the hamster wheel so to say.”

He shared that he created The Quesadilla Gallery in late 2022 to offset the turkey shortage going on that year.

Now after having a new tenant already in talks to take his retail space and buy the restaurant equipment, Hasapis shared that the Fried Turkey Sandwich Shops will be his primary focus moving forward.

He also shared that TQG staff members were informed of the decision and were incorporated into the staff at the Fried Turkey Sandwich Shop locations with no issues.

“I was like, ‘Okay, when this guy goes, and this person's moving. This is a perfect process instead of hiring new people. I'll just fill a lot of shifts, and I'll be able to integrate my staff with the other two stores and no one will skip a beat.’ So no one gets their hours cut and I didn’t have  to terminate anybody,” said Hasapis.

The final lunch shift will be on Thursday Aug. 10 and will go from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00p.m.
