Kress Rooftop Lounge celebrates fresh rebrand with ribbon cutting; Grand opening celebration planned for July 4

By Faith Hatton, posted 3 months ago

The team at Kress Rooftop Lounge, formerly known as Hay Street Kitchen and Rooftop, gathered with the downtown Fayetteville community and the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce on July 1, 2024 for a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome in a new name and future restaurant addition to the downtown area.

Staff are celebrating a grand reopening under a new name, fresh menu and drink options and new rules for the adults only space located at 231 Hay Street in Fayetteville.

These changes are all taking place under the management of Owner Antonio Gonzalez, who is working with his team and business partners to bring something unique to the downtown area.

“They brought me in and we just took and revamped everything. Everything is grown and sexy for the upstairs area. It’s a place where people can enjoy good food and good drinks and relax, enjoy the sunset,” shared Gonzalez.

While a dress code for the establishment has been standard, owners have decided to lower the age requirement for entry. Now, patrons aged 28 and up are welcome to come and enjoy the rooftop bar.

“It's 28 and above, gentlemen have to come and dress to impress, no slides, no slip ons, no flip flops or anything like that. Gentleman, we would like to at least just have a polo on. We're not too strict. They can wear their nice tennis shoes, as long as their pants aren’t coming down or anything like that,” said Gonzalez.

The jerk wings are sure to be a huge hit on the Lounge menu.

The Kress Rooftop Lounge offers an assortment of drinks such as a Whiskey Smash, spiked lemonade and a “Rooftop Colada” along with a new an improved bar food menu featuring Korean BBQ Spring rolls, fried Brussels sprouts, hot honey cheese pretzel bites and more. The menu is brought to the bar with the Late Night Hunger option through Breakfast with Tiffany while the full restaurant is in development.
While the rooftop lounge is already open in full swing, a new restaurant downstairs is still in its early stages of development. A new breakfast restaurant called Breakfast with Tiffany is currently planned for the space. This restaurant has been a long time dream for Gonzalez, who says it will be a homage to the iconic movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” The classic movie will be incorporated throughout with Tiffany blue and a “build your own breakfast” style menu which will include blueberry streusel muffins.

““Breakfast with Tiffany is a concept I’ve been working on for years.  I've been in the restaurant business for over 20 years and it’s one of my ideas I’ve been working on for years. When I teamed up with Mitch and Alan, they wanted to do a new concept and they brought me in and gave me an opportunity to just kind of start one of my dreams of owning my own restaurant,” shared Gonzalez.

Gonzalez has partnered with Chef David Alexander Felix (Chef Felix) to bring the menu to life.

The fried Brussels sprouts are one of Chef Felix's favorite menu items.

“For the menu for the new Kress Rooftop Lounge, we’re trying to stick to finger foods. Something easy and light. We’re going to stick to this main menu but we’re going to do little specials every weekend,” shared Chef Felix.

Serving as Head Chef, Chef Felix has been working on perfecting the lounge’s bar menu and working on a breakfast menu that the community is sure to appreciate including eggs in every possible style.

“Anything you can think of, we can make it. My style is anything you could bring, I could fabricate it. So if you come in one day and you say ‘Oh I think I’d like to try something different, maybe this flavor, or that flavor,’ then let me know. The Chef in this building is coming to interact with our customers and everyone, we’ll try to be hands on,” shared Chef Felix.

The Lounge is currently open Wednesday-Saturday 7 p.m.-12 a.m. The restaurant Breakfast with Tiffany will be opening in the coming months.

A grand reopening celebration is planned for July 4th weekend, with Music By DJ Smylz planned for July 4 and 5 from 6-11:30 p.m.
