FSU receives second-consecutive Silver Military Friendly School designation

By Staff Report, posted 1 year ago

Fayetteville State University recently received the 2024-2025 Silver Military Friendly School designation for the second consecutive year.

The Military Friendly® designation creates better outcomes for veterans. By setting a standard, then promoting it, their rankings provide positive reinforcement for American organizations to invest in programs that improve the lives of veterans.
“FSU is honored to receive this designation, and it’s a testament of our commitment to serve our military service members and their families,” said Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success and Enrollment Management, Pamela Baldwin, Ed.D in a press release.

FSU has offered free tuition to qualifying military-affiliated students through the military tuition scholarship since 2022 to reduce financial barriers for military connected individuals with no access to Department of Defense (DOD) tuition assistance. Active duty, members of the National Guard or Reserves with an honorable discharge, military spouses of active-duty service members or veterans, children or other recognized legal dependents of active-duty service members or veterans qualify for the military tuition scholarship.  Approximately 33 percent of FSU’s nearly 7,000 students are military affiliated.

Miliary Friendly® is owned and operated by VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business serving as the link between the military community and the companies that want to hire them, the schools that want to enroll them, and the brands that want to reach them. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey.

With an office at Ft. Liberty’s Training and Education Center and recently announcing its partnership with AIR University, FSU continues its commitment to honoring service members, whether active-duty, veteran or reservist, and their dependents by offering free and accessible high-quality education. Prospective and current military-affiliated students and their dependents are also supported by the university’s Office of Adult Learners, Transfer and Military Students, led by Executive Director Cierra Griffin, Ed.D., which offers advisement, advocacy and other support services.
