Robeson Community College has named Renee Collins as the new Vice President of the RCC Foundation.

“This was a wonderful opportunity to move into a leadership role and I’m excited about the possibilities that the future hold,” Collins stated in a press release. “I’m excited to become a part of Robeson Community College and to be fortunate enough to be in a position to help take the Foundation to new heights and measures.”

Collins has been a prominent figure in Robeson County, working for UNC Health Southeastern Foundation as a Project Specialist since 2017. Over the years, she played a key role in expanding major events like galas, golf tournaments, and health initiatives focused on men’s, women’s, and diabetes awareness. She also managed scholarship programs, employee campaigns, capital campaigns, donor cultivation, and giving clubs. One of her major accomplishments was the creation of a Catastrophic Assistance Fund to support employees in times of need.

“With more than 23 years of experience in marketing, sales, philanthropy, and event planning, Renee brings an exceptional breadth of expertise to this important role,” stated RCC President Melissa Singler in a press release. “We are excited to have her join our team as we seek to increase our fundraising efforts to assist more students seeking to achieve an education.”

Prior to working at UNC Health Southeastern Foundation, Collins worked at Scotland Memorial Foundation as the Development Coordinator. It was during that time that her work sparked a lifelong commitment to philanthropy.

“Scotland Memorial Foundation is where I discovered my passion for fundraising and event planning,” Collins stated. “I was able to work on healthcare initiatives, including cancer, heart health, diabetes, support groups, and community screenings.”

Driven by her passion for fostering meaningful community connections and supporting initiatives that make a lasting impact, Renee is deeply dedicated to strengthening communities and advancing philanthropic efforts.

“In Robeson County, we have a unique opportunity to accept a challenge to help bring about change and create a stronger workforce through education,” Collins said. “We have many in our population that cannot afford to go to college, but through the RCC Foundation, our friends, benefactors, and donors have the ability to help others, assisting them with their educational pursuits, to receive the training they need to be successful.”

“Through the RCC Foundation, our community can help raise money for students in our community who seek a better life through education, which ultimately creates a better quality of life for everyone,” Collins said. “I’ve seen first-hand how RCC can help transform lives and change the trajectory of families for generations.”

Collins says that in her first months on the job, she plans on creating a new vision for the Foundation that focuses on working closely with the community to help raise funds to support students. She’s also working on an Inaugural Ball that will help celebrate the college’s 60th Anniversary.

“It’s our Diamond Jubilee,” Collins said. “It will be RCC’s First Gala, and we will be raising funds to support Athletic Scholarships.”

Collins said the details will be forthcoming, as well as additional events to celebrate RCC’s 60th year of creating student success. With the celebration will come a need for philanthropic donors, which Collins says she’s looking forward to meeting soon.

“I am excited to be working in education,” Collins said. “I look forward to making a difference in the lives of our students and helping them meet their academic, training and personal goals.”
