Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation recognized three outstanding team members with the Dr. Chris Aul Patient Safety and Quality Award during the organization’s Leadership Forum on March 17.

The annual award celebrates individuals who go above and beyond to promote patient safety and deliver high-quality care across Cape Fear Valley Health. The honor was established through generous contributions made in recognition of Dr. Chris Aul’s retirement and his longstanding commitment to patient safety and quality care.

This year’s award recipients are:

  • Jamie Lucas, Leader Award (new category)
  • Jennifer Reach, Clinical Award
  • Mark Jackson, Non-Clinical Award

Each recipient was selected for their dedication to maintaining essential services, commitment to safety protocols and unwavering focus on improving patient outcomes.

“These awards reflect the heart of our mission — ensuring every patient receives safe, high-quality care,” said Sabrina Brooks, vice president of the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation, in a press release. “We are proud to recognize team members who consistently go above and beyond to support their colleagues, patients and our community while continuing Dr. Aul’s legacy.”

The Dr. Chris Aul Patient Safety and Quality Award recognizes both clinical and non-clinical professionals who play a vital role in supporting patients, staff and the community. Nominees are evaluated based on their contributions to safety initiatives, adherence to best practices and their ability to go beyond their daily responsibilities to improve care delivery.

Winners are chosen by an anonymous committee following a comprehensive review process. Awards are presented annually during National Patient Safety Awareness Week.

In addition to being recognized at a leadership assembly, each recipient receives a $500 award to support continuing education or a patient safety initiative. Honorees are also highlighted across Cape Fear Valley Health communications platforms and shared with local media.

Cape Fear Valley Health remains committed to fostering a culture of safety, innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring patients receive the highest level of care every day.
