CCS names new assistant superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

The Cumberland County Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Arrica Moseley DuBose as the new assistant superintendent of Cumberland County Schools (CCS) Curriculum and Instruction during its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 12, following the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. Eric C. Bracy.

Dr. DuBose currently serves as the executive director of Elementary Curriculum & Instruction and Federal Programs for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, where she leads districtwide efforts focused on curriculum, instructional improvement, school performance and federal programs.

With more than 24 years of experience in education, she began her career in Durham Public Schools as a teacher and later served as a Title I Middle School Improvement Specialist and Parent Involvement Coordinator. Early in her leadership career, she served as an assistant principal in the Wake County Public School System before becoming a principal in both Durham Public Schools and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools prior to advancing to district leadership.

Dr. DuBose earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University, a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University.

She was selected to participate in Cohort 11 of the AASA (The School Superintendents Association)/Howard University Urban Superintendents Academy and was recognized as a Winston-Salem State University 40 Under 40 honoree.

In her new role with Cumberland County Schools, Dr. DuBose will support the district’s curriculum and instructional programs, professional learning and academic improvement efforts to help strengthen student outcomes across the county.
