Hilburn sworn in as interim director of elections

Vicki Hilburn was sworn in as the Cumberland County Board of Elections Interim Director of Elections at the Board of Elections meeting Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, in the E. Newton Smith Center.

Board of Elections Chair Linda Devore administered the oath of office.

Hilburn began her career with Board of Elections on Jan. 17, 2012, and previously served as Special Projects and Absentee officer. She currently serves as the deputy director, and now serves as the interim director of elections. Hilburn holds an associate degree in Applied Science and Information Technology and became a Certified Elections Administrator in 2023.

The Board of Elections is located in the E. Newton Smith Center, 227 Fountainhead Lane, Fayetteville. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
