The inaugural cohort begins March 2 through May 13, meeting Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at FTCC’s Fayetteville campus. This intensive 306-hour training course offers a combination of classroom instruction and practical field experience.

Graduates will gain vital skills and credentials in:

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, utility and heavy equipment operators in North Carolina earn an average annual salary of around $52,000, with experienced workers exceeding $70,000 depending on specialization and region.

The program’s goal is simple: help students move from training to a rewarding, stable career in record time. Whether you’re starting fresh or looking to transition into a skilled trade that keeps North Carolina connected and growing, FTCC’s UCT (Underground) program prepares you to succeed in one of the state’s most essential industries.

The registration fee is $180, and qualified North Carolina residents may be eligible for full tuition assistance through the FTCC Forward Scholarship, designed to support students pursuing short-term, high-impact training programs that lead directly to jobs.
