The City of Fayetteville’s Economic and Community Development Department has begun accepting applications for community safety micro-grants.
These micro-grants aim to inspire and boost community crime reduction activities by supporting efforts to prevent crime and violence in Fayetteville.
The program is part of an overall strategy to reduce crime across Fayetteville through innovation and impact. Grant applications are available at FayettevilleNC.gov/Microgrant.
Funds are awarded to applicants who pledge to carry out qualified crime reduction activities. This grant is not limited to non-profit organizations but open to include individuals or grassroots groups seeking ways to make a difference in their neighborhoods. Funded activities are based on the following: Conflict Resolution and Mediation, Community Crime Prevention, Opportunities for Youth, Parents and Families, Family Stability, Addressing Upward Mobility and Implicit Bias and Diversity.
The micro-grant program targets crime reduction in the 28301, 28303, 28306, 28311, 28312, and 28314 ZIP codes. As such, applications from these ZIP codes will receive additional consideration, although qualified activities outside of those zip codes are also eligible.
The deadline for the first round of applications is Sept. 2. The maximum award amount for the fifth round of funding is $1,500, $2,500 for those who completed tier one, or $5,000 for those who are financially sponsored by a nonprofit corporation and have completed tier one and two, or a 501c3 registered with the State of North Carolina. Organizations with budgets over $100,000 are ineligible. This award distribution will be the fifth round providing a total of $250,000 to award recipients within the city to empower communities to prevent crime and reduce violence.
A pre-application workshop is strongly encouraged for all potential applicants. The workshop will cover specifics of the application software, review the grant cycle timeline, and answer any questions about the grant.
