The City of Fayetteville welcomes the newest addition to the team, Chief Financial Officer Tiffany Murray. Her first day with the city will be Monday, March 31.

A native of eastern North Carolina, Tiffany Murray grew up south of Cumberland County in Laurinburg, N.C. Murray shared in a press release that “joining the team here at the City of Fayetteville is like returning home.”

Murray will assist with creating long-term and short-term financial goals. She will evaluate and revise Fayetteville’s accounting, reporting, processes and procedures to ensure reliable, efficient systems that comply with North Carolina and Federal laws and regulations.

City Manager Douglas J. Hewett remarked in a press release, “We are excited to welcome Ms. Murray to our growing city. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we look forward to seeing her help Fayetteville continue to flourish.”

Murray has over 27 years of experience in finance, having spent the majority of her career in local government finance where she served as Chief Financial Officer, Director of Finance, Accounting Manager and various other roles for Gaston, Wilson, Mecklenburg and Durham Counties.

“I welcome the opportunity to join America’s ‘Can-Do’ City, a city on the move with a vision to bring impactful change to the community it serves with respect,” Murray said.

Murray holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Business Administration from Pfeiffer University. She is a North Carolina Certified Local Government Finance Officer, an active member in the Government Finance Officers Associations and the North Carolina Local Government Investment Association. She also served on the Board of Directors for North Carolina Government Finance Officer Association from 2022 –2024.

Murray's most recent role before coming to the City of Fayetteville was at the Charlotte Ballet, where she served as the Director of Finance and Administration and oversaw the Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology.

“Tiffany’s years of experience and dedication to financial operations will serve not only City employees, but our residents as a whole,” Hewett stated in a press release.
