After being in business for two years, Hope Mills born business The Cave Spa and Halo- Therapy is now looking to expand their locations through franchising.
Along with messages, facials and body scrubs, the spa features halotherapy treatment, a form of salt therapy in which medicinal grade level salt is crushed up and pumped through the air which can be used by some to treat respiratory and skin conditions.
According to The Cave Spa and Halo- Therapy Co- Owner Tisha Mack, salt caves are popular around the world and the country, which led her and her husband to open the only luxury spa in Hope Mills, and the only salt cave in Cumberland County.
“The good thing about our salt cave is, it is very dramatic, we are big on experience,” shared Mack. “Ours is more of an experience. So, we don't just let you get the medicine of the salt, it’s also foggy in there with the rain storms and thunderstorms and you lean back and it's dark and it's very relaxing and therapeutic at the same time.”
Mack said that the decision to franchise came after hosting a number of guests who traveled from around the east coast and beyond to experience the salt cave, adding that maintaining the standard associated with the brand is very important.
“It wasn't always a goal, but when I was getting the requests for the cave in different areas, I knew I didn't want to move. I knew I didn't want to be traveling too much. I have a family of six. and I run other businesses. So I said, ‘You know what, a great idea would be to franchise.’ That way we have caves all over and keep the brand and make sure we can give this experience all over the world,” shared Mack.
According to a Facebook post made by Mack announcing the decision to franchise, only one location will be allowed per city on a first come first serve basis.
“We want to be a five star restaurant. You come in, you get catered to. We don't want to get you in and out so that's really what's important to me, is the experience and knowing that whichever franchise owner is going to uphold our values with the experience,” said Mack.
Mack said hands-on training will also be available to new owners and she will walk them through the process of opening up their own spa.
“I want it to be affordable to purchase to get started. So we have low franchise fees, and I'm not going to change that. Myself as well as the current manager who's going to serve as the director of The Cave brand, we're going to be hands on with helping whichever owners get up and running,” said Mack. “I'm excited about creating this opportunity for other people. I don't come from a strong financial background. I come from poverty, you know, projects and Medicaid, food stamps. And to be able to be financially free and put other people in positions to be financially free means everything to me.”
