Future homebuyers will have one more opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the Homebuying process through the First Time Homebuyers Workshop hosted by the City of Fayetteville Community Development Office in partnership with Kingdom Community Development Corporation of Spring Lake, NC.
The workshops take place every fourth Saturday of the month at Fayetteville Technical Community College. The final workshop for the year will be taking place on Saturday. Dec. 9 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The course is conducted by the Kingdom Community Development Corporation and is designed for first-time homebuyers. Participants will gain an understanding of the entire home buying process, including budgeting for homeownership, shopping for a home, obtaining a mortgage, closing procedures, and the responsibilities of maintaining the home after purchase.
Registration begins at $160 but fees may be waived for low-to-moderate income families who are able to provide documentation or due to available grant funding and restrictions.
One on one counseling is available with the Kingdom Community Development Corporation for $100 and follow up counseling sessions are available for $50 each.
Residents who participate have completed the pre-requisite for down payment assistance and may apply after selecting a lender, getting pre-approved for a mortgage, and finding a home.
