Scott Harvey is the creator and owner of Harvey Johns Steakhouse, a new steakhouse coming to Angier, NC.

The new restaurant will be located at 1501 N Raleigh Street, two doors down from the Carolina Butcher Shop. The space is about 2,200 square feet and following the opening of the restaurant, which will also feature a full service bar, Harvey shared that the plan is to build out the suite next door to use as an event room to accommodate large parties for things like birthday parties, wedding showers, baby showers, etc.

Harvey shared that he and his team will start breaking ground on the inside build in about two weeks. The restaurant is expected to open by the end of September at the latest, hopefully sooner if there are no hiccups in the build process.

Harvey’s culinary passion began when he was young, as his father was a chef as well. Harvey worked as a chef for about 15 years before working his way up to operations and then serving as district manager for some large restaurant groups as well. This is his first time owning his own restaurant.

Using fresh, quality ingredients is of the utmost importance to Harvey. Having grown up on a farm with a grandfather who was a butcher, Harvey explained that he didn’t see a grocery store until he was 16. His family’s self-sufficiency helped shape his love for locally grown food.

“… I grew up with that sort of love and respect for food and produce and vegetables and things so I sort of carry that snobbiness along with my cooking. I want the freshest ingredients. I want the best products available and properly prepared, so I feel like that I do that in my cooking… absolute top freshness. And that's what I want to bring here… basically like a five star meal for a reasonable price that’s approachable for people, for us here in North Carolina,” shared Harvey.

Harvey shared that he has begun speaking with local farmers to begin forming relationships and attempting to make those connections to source fresh local products to use at the restaurant. Thus far he has three local farmers who’ve agreed to work with him.

The steakhouse will also feature a full service bar.

The restaurant will provide employment opportunities for about 8-10 people in the community. Harvey shared that information about interviews and opportunities should be coming out in a few weeks.

The community is already getting excited about Harvey’s cooking.

“I’ve had nothing but great, great response and support and things like that from the community. And I know they’ve been really really wanting this so we have great relationships in the community already. And really, those are the folks that pushed me because they’ve had my cooking…so I hope I can bring what they’re expecting,” shared Harvey.
