Flip Flop Sauce is now officially available for purchase on Walmart.com, expanding its reach to customers nationwide.
Created by local grillmaster and community volunteer Carl Pringle, the brand has been available online and at local retail stores in Fayetteville for years. Now, both Original and Fire flavors of Flip Flop Sauce are available across the country through Walmart.
Pringle shared that his business partner, Jonathan Dozier, has been working towards the deal while handling other business with the multinational retail corporation, and that over the last few months communication really started to progress.
“We're not in the store yet, we've actually just launched on the website Saturday night,” shared Pringle. “It's kind of like a testing period. The same way that Food Lion gave us the local stores first to see how we do, check our numbers. If we really start moving, then of course they're going to want a bigger cut [of inventory], so they'll keep it in store.”
As the brand has spread across the state, other stores keeping it stocked include Lowes Foods, other Ace Hardware locations and Food Lion. Flip Flop Sauce has an online presence with their Amazon Storefront and Pringle shared that Walmart is looking to compete with that by offering smaller businesses a spot in their online store.
“Walmart has a big deal with free shipping. What they allow smaller companies, like us, to do is: they put the shipping into the price. Walmart made us put everything together,” shared Pringle. “We've been blessed. We've sold a few bottles that we just shipped to Texas and last week, we sent a bottle to California. Once you taste it, you’re going to tell somebody, which is going to help grow our presence in these areas we're not in already.”
Locally, bottles of the Flip Flop Sauce can be found in stores including Pate’s Farm Market, Lori’s Ace Home & Hardware and Kinlaw’s Supermarket. It is also being served at the Crown Complex during events.
“I'm just so thankful for all the support that Fayetteville as a whole has given me. And to be honest, the support makes me better, makes me stronger,” concluded Pringle.
