DistiNCtly Fayetteville, the destination marketing organization for greater Fayetteville, North Carolina, has announced the appointment of Robert Cox as director of sales and sports commission. This strategic hire underscores the organization’s commitment to elevating Cumberland County’s profile as a distinct destination for conventions, sporting events and leisure travel.

As director of sales and sports commission, Cox will lead DistiNCtly Fayetteville’s efforts to recruit and support meetings and sports-related travel and tourism. He will collaborate with local venues, hotels and community partners to drive economic impact through events and tournaments.

Cox brings more than two decades of experience in destination marketing and sports tourism. Throughout his career, he has successfully led sports marketing initiatives, managed national trade show strategies and built strong relationships with event organizers and hospitality partners.

“We are thrilled to welcome Robert to the DistiNCtly Fayetteville team,” said Devin Heath, CEO of DistiNCtly Fayetteville, in a press release. “His deep knowledge of North Carolina’s tourism landscape and his extensive experience leading sales efforts across multiple destinations in our state make him an ideal fit for this role. As we continue to elevate Fayetteville’s profile as a premier meetings and sports tourism destination, Robert’s leadership will be instrumental in driving growth, strengthening community partnerships and attracting high-impact events to the region.”
