Harnett County Government is proud to announce that LeAnn Blackmon, volunteer services director and medicare coordinator for the Division on Aging, has been awarded the Heroic Hands Award by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC).
The Heroic Hands award is presented to one individual in each county across North Carolina, recognizing local public servants who have made meaningful impacts in their community.
Blackmon has served with the Harnett County Division on Aging for 17 years. Her career has been centered around counseling, education and connecting residents to vital resources.
Blackmon expressed she feels honored that she was selected for the award and believes she is at her best when she is helping others and will continue to do her best to effectively serve the citizens of Harnett County.
“I was born to serve, I have a heart for helping others in my personal life and at work,” said Blackmon in a press release. “I have been fortunate to have always worked in a job that I absolutely love and to be able to make connections in the community that are willing to step up and assist me with needs of the population.”
The award was presented Thursday at the 118th NCACC Annual Conference dinner. Blackmon was celebrated by the County Managers, her director and several colleagues who traveled to honor her achievements.
Here’s what Blackmon’s colleagues shared about her impact:
“LeAnn exemplifies the heart of public service. Her tireless efforts have made a lasting impact in our community, and we are proud to see her recognized for the difference she makes every day!” stated Ainsley Johnson, Harnett County Health Director.
“LeAnn Blackmon has been an incredible asset to Harnett County. Her dedication as Medicare Coordinator and Volunteer services Director has touched countless lives, especially among our senior population,” stated Mary Jane Sauls, Public Health Administrator.
"LeAnn Blackmon has been a dedicated and caring presence in Harnett County for as long as I can remember. She has a heart of gold and consistently gives her time and energy to help others. As a fellow volunteer, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of her work. When she sees a need, she steps up to find a solution, often handling it herself. This recognition is truly deserved,” said Cindy Blaylock, Harnett County Volunteer.
Harnett County extends its congratulations to LeAnn for this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her continued dedication to serving the residents of Harnett County.
