Methodist University is once again preparing students for emerging opportunities in health sciences and technology-driven fields by introducing new programs that include:

• Majors in Public Health, Health Science and Cybersecurity
• Concentration in Applied Artificial Intelligence (Computer Information Technology)
• Minors in AI Literacy, Influencer & Interactive Media, Supply Chain Management, and Digital Marketing

These new programs expand academic pathways for MU students pursuing careers at the intersection of health, technology and business.

“At Methodist University, we listen to our students’ aspirations and the needs of the communities we serve,” said MU Provost and Executive Vice President Suzanne Blum Malley, PhD, in a press release. “The new programs are designed to provide students with the knowledge and hands-on experience they need to enter high-demand fields with confidence and purpose.”

The Public Health and Health Science majors join Methodist University’s expanding healthcare offerings, supporting direct pathways to graduate programs in health professions and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to addressing healthcare needs and improving health outcomes in Southeastern North Carolina and beyond. The stand-alone Cybersecurity major, previously a concentration, prepares students to guide network security and information assurance across a wide range of industries, including healthcare.

Complementing the major, MU’s new minors offer students across disciplines the opportunity to build specialized skills increasingly valued by employers. The AI Literacy minor introduces students to artificial intelligence applications, ethical considerations and practical uses across industries. The Influencer & Interactive Media and Digital Marketing minors focus on data-driven marketing strategies, digital communication tools and emerging trends in how organizations connect with audiences. Supply Chain Management prepares students to solve complex logistics problems, mitigate global risks and drive cost-efficiency across a wide range of industries.

The new offerings reflect Methodist University’s ongoing investment in professions-focused programs that respond to student aspirations and community needs while creating pathways for students from all backgrounds to pursue meaningful careers.

“Each of these programs has been carefully crafted to integrate practical experience with classroom instruction,” said MU’s Associate Provost for Academic Operations Patricia Fecher, EdD, in a press release. “Students won’t just learn concepts − they’ll apply them to real scenarios, preparing them to think critically and act confidently from their first day on the job.”
