Omega Industries, Inc., formerly known as Project Crossing, has selected Fayetteville and Cumberland County for its new manufacturing facility. The company will invest $3.5 million in equipment and real estate and create 20 jobs.

Omega Industries, Inc. is a nationally known manufacturer of railroad crossings, track products and miscellaneous steel components. The company headquarters is in Vancouver, Washington, with other facilities in California, Nebraska and Texas. This location will be the only operation on the East Coast and help strengthen the company’s geographical footprint.

“When I started this company nearly 50 years ago, I never imagined how far we would come,” said Isidoros Garifalakis, founder of Omega Industries, in a press release. “Our growth has always been about hard work, good people, and the opportunities in front of us. We’re proud to continue investing in American manufacturing, and we’re excited about what the future holds for Omega in Fayetteville.”

The City of Fayetteville approved a resolution supporting the Building Reuse Grant and providing a cash match of at least $7,600, 5% of the requested grant amount.

“We welcome Omega Industries, Inc. and the opportunity it brings to diversify our workforce, while offering impressive salaries,” said Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin in a press release. “We are on the cutting edge, serving as the only hub of its kind on the East Coast, cementing our commitment to economic growth throughout the City.”

“When companies like Omega Industries choose to invest in Cumberland County, it reinforces the strength of our community and the talent we have right here at home,” said Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere in a press release. “From students preparing for careers to service members transitioning into the civilian workforce, our focus is on connecting local talent with employers. We welcome Omega Industries and look forward to the opportunities they will bring.”

In a press release earlier today, Governor Stein announced that the company will receive a Building Reuse Grant of $152,000 to help upfit an existing vacant building off S. King Street.

“We are excited to welcome Omega Industries to our community,” said Robert Van Geons, president and CEO of FCEDC, in a press release. “This investment strengthens our manufacturing base, creates new opportunities for our workforce, and transforms a vacant building into a productive facility that will support growth for years to come.”
