
The N.C. Department of Transportation awarded a $2.7 million contract last week to improve thirteen miles of Cumberland County roads.
Highland Paving, a local contractor, will do the work, which will include milling and resurfacing the roads, placing permanent lane markings and, in some cases, widen the roadway to provide for paved shoulders for improved safety.

The contractor can begin work later this fall, and is expected to complete everything by the spring of 2027.
