New progress has just been announced on a massive project dedicated to serving as a beacon of hope and healing.
The Children of Fallen Heroes (CFH) nonprofit 501(c)(3) nonprofit group announced today that new partners have joined on the Children of Fallen Heroes Retreat and STEAM Education Center project, a 73,000 square foot facility which is set to be developed on an acquired 82 acres of pristine land near Fort Bragg (Liberty) in Moore County.
The new center will provide support and resources to children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. Located in Vass, NC, the center will be the first of its kind in the region and will offer a range of programs and services to help children and families cope with the challenges of losing a loved one in service to their country or community.
The choice of Moore County as the project's location is strategic, considering its proximity to Fort Bragg and Pinehurst. This ensures that the Retreat and STEAM Education Center remains accessible to military families and widowed spouses, offering them a supportive environment within their community.
“I started this organization because I wanted to create a place where children in similar situations could find the support they need to thrive. We are committed to providing the resources and support children need to thrive in the face of adversity,” shared Founder and President, Children of Fallen Heroes Kenneth Wasley in a press release. “We are honored to open our doors and begin serving the families of our fallen heroes.”
In a heartwarming collaboration that transcends corporate boundaries, South Carolina based Synergy Steel and its Executive Vice President, Michael Emanuel, have joined forces with the Children of Fallen Heroes to embark on this transformative project.
The CFH acknowledged Synergy Steel's Executive Vice President, Michael Emanuel, known for his passion for philanthropy and community development, as one of the driving forces behind this noble cause.
Emanuel shared that he is excited about the positive impact the Retreat and STEAM Education Center can have on the lives of these families.
"This project is not just about constructing physical structures; it's about creating a space where healing can happen, connections can be forged, and futures can be shaped. It's an honor to be a part of something so meaningful," expressed Emanuel in a press release.
This initiative is set to make a significant impact, offering support to families in need while promoting education and innovation. The synergy between corporate and community interests takes shape as a haven for families facing challenging circumstances.
The focal point of this ambitious endeavor is the first phase — the creation of 20 tiny homes, strategically located just moments away from Fort Bragg and Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The tiny homes, designed with care and consideration, will serve as comfortable retreats for families, fostering a sense of community and providing them with the support they need to navigate life's challenges. Each home is a symbol of hope, resilience, and the shared commitment of Synergy Steel and the Children of Fallen Heroes to make a positive difference.
Looking beyond the retreat aspect, the STEAM Education Center component of the project underscores the commitment to education and innovation. It aims to empower the children of these families through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
As Synergy Steel and the Children of Fallen Heroes come together for this groundbreaking initiative, they set an inspiring example of corporate social responsibility. The Retreat and STEAM Education Center not only stands as a testament to their commitment to making a lasting impact but also as a beacon of hope for families facing adversity. Together, they are creating a legacy that goes beyond steel and concrete — a legacy of compassion, support, and the belief that a community united can overcome any challenge.
The project was announced in March 2023, after CFH entered into a contract to purchase the 82 acres of land to build the new facility.
Currently, the full Retreat & STEAM Education Center project is accepting public donations with a $500,000 goal. At the time of this publication, a total of $80,684 has been raised.
Donations to the project can be made online here and come in multiple tiers including naming rights and nonprofit partnerships.
