Haymount Truck Stop, a hub for area food trucks, is preparing to open a second location in Hoke County.
The business’s premier location at 100 Broadfoot Ave. in the heart of Haymount in Fayetteville opened in November of 2023. Owners Jordan Sherrod and Chris Beaty introduced the concept to provide a hub for the community and uplift local businesses by collaborating with food truck vendors, breweries and artists.

“[When you’re] starting a business that’s something completely different, you don’t really have much to base it on. There’s always a question mark of like, what’s the success going to be?” shared Co-owner Jordan Sherrod. “We’ve been really privileged by the Fayetteville-Cumberland County community to have had a really good customer base, and then you know we have just been privileged to be here and to grow and to be as successful as we are.”

As business remained steady and locals continued to support the new food truck hub, Sherrod and Beaty felt confident that the business was ready to expand.

“Once we saw the success, and then we realized that, ‘Hey, this is not just a honeymoon period; we’re getting consistent patronage,’ it made sense on timing,” added Sherrod.

Haymount Truck Stop is working with the architect Studio 310 out of Raleigh and local builder Robert Miller with Carolina Construction of Fayetteville for the design and development of the new site.

“We looked at several different areas, but Raeford just made a lot of sense, given kind of two things: one, there’s a reasonable proximity for us to be able to manage from two locations, but enough distance that it's not going to cannibalize our market…[additionally] we’ll be able to have something for people in that neighborhood to walk to, because we’ll have a sidewalk all the way through to our place, but also, there’s a ton of houses in Raeford, and a lot of residential without a lot of entertainment, so it just made a lot of sense for us to go there and [it’s] kind of a centralized spot for a lot of neighborhoods that are developing out that direction,” explained Sherrod.

The new spot will be located outside of the Bedford neighborhood in Hoke County. Though not in Haymount, the new location will retain the name Haymount Truck Stop. The owners believe this will help build a consistent, recognizable brand across the two sites (and future ones to come) and avoid confusion among customers.

They have the new lot secured, and opening is slated for early 2027. They’re building from the ground up on a four-acre lot.

There will be a lot of similarities in the layout of the new location to the original, but there will also be some new features. Larger green space, an arcade with a golf simulator, an indoor communal space, a 21+ section and plenty of parking can all be expected from Haymount Truck Stop’s Hoke County location.

Over 200 food trucks are currently registered with Haymount Truck Stop. The new location, like the original, will have space for four trucks.

“Four slots seems to be a pretty perfect number. You want to have spots for multiple trucks, once you start getting too high in numbers, now more trucks are competing for the customer base…we want to make sure that we have a good financial location for trucks to go to, and then we also want to have enough variety, but I think four trucks, we’ve really decided is a really good number for us, and we’re going to retain that at the new location,” stated Sherrod.

Sherrod gave credit to General Manager Will Fowler and the Haymount Truck Stop staff for the business’s continued growth and success. The team will be expanding with the new location, but applications and hiring are expected to begin at the end of this year or early 2027.

“We’re really excited to get out to Raeford and excited to serve that community up there. [It] sounds like from the feedback we’ve gotten thus far they’re excited about us. So, I hope that that continues to be the case. So, we’ll try to get through construction and get open as fast as we can and start things out in Raeford,” shared Sherrod.
