Four years after taking ownership of a Southern Pines staple, Will Faircloth and his family are excited to see the business continue to grow and thrive.
Faircloth has 27 years of experience in the restaurant industry. When the opportunity to assume ownership of Beefeaters Southern Pines presented itself, he was keen to become a part of one of the area’s most notable restaurant legacies.
“The amount of nostalgia, the amount of history, the amount of memories, just the place that Beefeaters holds in the Moore County community was obviously super attractive. I did my research. I came and ate…and I just saw something that a lot of people had a lot of things attached to,” shared Faircloth.
Located at 672 SW Broad St., Southern Pines, N.C., the restaurant first opened in 1990. Faircloth took over ownership of Beefeaters Southern Pines in 2022.
“This was more of a good to great. It's already good. How can I make it great? How can I make it better? … how can I make sure that the the legacy continues to go on, whether it's with me or my family or another successor, just put it in a place that it's it's going to continue to remain a staple in the community…you don't see as many, you know, family-owned, privately-owned small restaurants succeeding at a high level like you do your, you know, your Longhorns or your Olive Gardens or Cheesecake Factories and stuff like that. So it meant a lot to me to come in and do that,” added Faircloth.
The restaurant's specialty is in its name – beef.
“I kind of joke that we’re one of those old-school meat-and-potatoes places. We take a lot of pride in the quality of beef we buy. We only buy certified Angus beef or higher-graded beef, and you know people come here for a great ribeye and a piping hot baked potato,” remarked Faircloth.

Other standout menu items include the stuffed flounder, grilled marinated chicken breast, salmon filet and pork loin. Specials change every Thursday. Chef Paul Smith is the driving force behind the culinary creations and innovations at the restaurant.
Faircloth shared that looking forward, he hopes to continue to expand the restaurant’s customer base and make small changes to the facility to support longevity.
“We were able to acquire the building about two years after we bought the business. So, being that the building is almost 100 years old, and it is starting to show its age, we definitely have some plans to [make updates],” shared Faircloth. “Beefeaters has been here 36 years, and a lot of our guests know it as exactly what it is. But you know, as people get older and younger crowds come in, I kind of want to find that sweet spot in the middle to really pay homage to what Beefeaters is and how it got to where it is and how it's made it 36 years, but also provide some tasteful updates that kind of bring it more into today, whether it's decor or flooring or lighting, just making it feel more updated.”
Faircloth’s business philosophy is to get better one day at a time, and he continues to make that happen at Beefeaters.
