One of the sweetest additions to Spring Lake N.C. is now preparing to expand into a second location. 

Legacy Rolls, an independent bakery known for its sweet cinnamon rolls, savory sliders and other fast dishes is getting ready to open a second location at 700 E Williams St. in Apex N.C. 

The restaurant held its grand opening in Spring Lake on March 8, 2025. Since then, father and son team Jerry and Justin Canada have been able to turn an heirloom sweet roll recipe into the heart of an expanding business. 

Owner and Co-Founder Jerry Canada shared that after searching for locations in Hope Mills, Fayetteville and a few more areas, they settled on Apex for its potential and to meet the needs of the family. 

“We were looking for the last six months to try to find a space. So we've been looking in Fayetteville, the Raleigh-Durham area mostly, and Apex kind of, I don't want to say it fell into our laps,” shared Canada “there was an opportunity to take over space that presented itself, and we went from not having a second location to having a second location within two weeks.” 

The restaurant is a standalone building that was previously home to another restaurant, Yamato Steak, Seafood & Sushi Bar. The standalone building will offer more parking for customers, a drive thru window and, being located beside N.C. highway 55, is in a great space for residents to discover Legacy Rolls. 

“We've done some cosmetic work on it, but nothing major. We liked that it was already a restaurant before. We are in the process of finalizing our equipment and furnishing it. We're hoping to be open within the next month, month and a half,” shared Canada.  

Since opening their doors, the Legacy Rolls crew has expanded past their original cinnamon rolls and sliders. The current menu includes chicken wings, macaroni fish and chicken plates and more. The new location will also include new menu options. 

“We are looking into expanding our menu. We haven't finalized it yet. We're thinking about bringing in some signature sliders for here and for Apex. That might consist of lobster rolls and wagyu beef, to make a little bit more of an upscale kind of slider. “Legacy Exclusives” or something like that,” shared Canada.  

The team has kept sweet rolls as a main focus, expanding into new permanent menu additions like their blueberry rolls, and adding new year round flavors such as their cookies and cream rolls and their strawberry crunch rolls along with more seasonal additions. 

Canada shared that he and Justin will be splitting their time between the two locations and plan to keep the Spring Lake location going as they adjust to the new location. 

“We are not closing the Spring Lake location. We've made a commitment to this area, and we plan on being here for the long run,” assured Canada. “There's been some challenges here for us, but we want to make sure that the community knows that we're not going anywhere. If Apex goes well, we might be looking for a third location and so forth. We started right here in Spring Lake, and we want to let people know this is home for us.”
