Cityblock, a locally based care provider in Fayetteville and across NC, held a grand opening celebration at their sixth community-based clinic location in the state on Monday, March 31.

This opening marks a meaningful expansion for Cityblock in North Carolina where it has been operating since 2021 and currently serves over 40,000 Medicaid and dually eligible members across the state in these clinics and/or virtually and in their homes. When it became clear that the needs of the community had outgrown Cityblock’s former clinic, they looked to move to accommodate their growing client base. Their new clinic is just down the street from where they were formerly located.

“I'm so proud, in particular, of this hub in Fayetteville–in Cumberland County; we know how big the need is here. From the very beginning, this was a place where we knew that the members with behavioral health needs [and] members with primary care needs, were struggling to get their needs met. We knew this is a place that we could have impact, and we worked really hard to earn the right and to build relationships with the community that allowed us to launch this hub,” stated Co-founder, and CEO of Cityblock Health Toyin Ajayi at the ribbon cutting celebration.

Co-founder and CEO Toyin Ajayi expressed her joy and gratitude for the growth Cityblock has seen over the years and the impact they've been able to make on thousands of lives.

The Fayetteville health clinic is a 5,500 square-foot space with state-of-the-art clinical facilities where they can provide even more members with personalized care. The hub includes six exam rooms, two flex treatment rooms, two behavioral health spaces, a community conference room, and an open reception and waiting area.

Earlier this year, Cityblock Health partnered with United Healthcare (UHC) in North Carolina to support Medicaid patients across the state adding to existing health plan partnerships with Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC and Alliance Health.

With nearly 3 million North Carolinians on Medicaid and rising, this new clinic will ensure that the most vulnerable members of the North Carolina Medicaid system receive timely, quality healthcare for serious conditions like mental illness, substance use, intellectual/developmental disabilities, pharmacy services, physical healthcare, safe housing and food.

“I want more members to get in here and get primary care. My background is kidney disease, and 70% of patients that end up on dialysis had uncontrolled hypertension or uncontrolled diabetes. If I can get them in here for primary care, I can contain these two diseases so they never reach this point. So that's just good basic primary care with diabetes and hypertension management. So I want to be able to serve more members. I want to be able to offer more providers. I want to be able to offer more hours. So I want to look at, do we need weekends? Do we need evenings? So I can get more members in here to get primary care,” shared Market Vice President of Operations for Cityblock Health in North Carolina Dorytha "Dodie" Robinson.

The clinic, located at 1738 Owen Drive Suite 111, began seeing patients in February. Eligible members can receive care at the clinic during its operating hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
