Fiction lovers to descend on Fayetteville for Comic Con

By David Kennard, posted 3 years ago
John Turk, Kerri Hoskins, Lia Montelongo and Richard Divizio, known for their work on Mortal Kombat, will join other celebrities from the fiction genre Saturday and Sunday at the Crown Complex.

John Turk, Kerri Hoskins, Lia Montelongo and Richard Divizio may mean nothing to many people in the local business community, but those are big names in the electronic gaming and fan fiction industry.

Anyone into the online gaming world probably will be happy to know that those movie and electronic game fiction stars are scheduled to make appearances on June 19-20 at Fayetteville’s Comic Con event taking place at the Crown Complex Convention Center.

You can find the complete list of stars here: https://fayettevillecomiccon.com/celebrities.

Super fans and casual fiction lovers alike will enjoy the crowd — many of which will be adorned as their favorite superhero — on hand to browse vendor booths, comic book collections, a cosplay contest and camaraderie with other fiction lovers.

Tickets prices for the event run the gamut depending on what you’re looking for, basic entry is $25 per person for the two-day event. Meeting well-known actors is significantly pricier.

“The Crown Expo has been serving as a drive-through mass vaccination clinic since Dec. 28.” said Ana Dell, marketing manager at the Crown Complex. “As that undertaking began to retreat in its occupancy of the space, we have been fortunate to restart our event operation with C&E Gun Shows having held their show as recently as June 5-6.”

Dell said the Fayetteville Comic Con, is an event and organization that has been cancelled and rescheduled multiple times due to the pandemic.

She said it will make its return to the Crown Expo this weekend “and we are extremely excited to have everyone back celebrating everything geek."

“Historically, Fayetteville Comic Con has brought in very large crowds dispersed throughout the weekend,” Dell said. “This year, as the excitement grows and people prepare to return to in-person entertainment, we are anticipating that the attendance numbers will be strong. Fayetteville Comic Con is a great event to kick off the return of live ticketed events returning to the Crown Complex.”
