A Perfect Weekend in Hope Mills

Sponsored Content provided by Melody Foote - Communications Associate, IMI Association Executives

Look no further than Hope Mills to have a perfect weekend. We’ve got places to eat, things to do and varied shopping stores to keep your entire family entertained.  Here are a few of our favorites.

Chow Down

Stop by Zorbas on any weekend morning, and you’ll find it packed with patrons enjoying the quick and filling homemade food.  After breakfast hours, Zorbas serves the best Gyro in town, hands down. The menu also includes Souvlaki, pizza, spaghetti, salads, and other favorites.  And don’t forget the homemade brownie to take home.

Napkins restaurant is located onsite at Dirtbag Ales Brewery & Taproom. Napkins uses as many locally made products as possible in their ever-changing seasonal menu.  They offer a mix of flavors from across the country, scratch-made sauces (even the ketchup!), and burgers made with 100% grass-fed beef from small farms in North Carolina. Not sure what to order? Try the Brussel sprouts and their dipping sauce.

In early 2018, Sammios Italian Restaurant reopened with a new look and menu. They serve authentic Italian and Greek specialties; about 80% of the food is made from family recipes. All the sauces, gravies, most dressings, and pizza dough are made fresh daily. A favorite is Greek spaghetti, which is sauteed in butter and garlic and mixed with feta cheese.

On Wednesdays, menu specials are the same prices as they were 28 years ago. Patrons can grab a plate of spaghetti for just $3.99 and a one-topping pizza for $6.99.
Enter Superior Bakery any morning and find display shelves filled with seasonal and weekly favorites that range from sourdough, cheese, and grain breads, Danish in standard and unique flavors, pies, cookies, orange and lemon cake donuts, glazed donuts, muffins, and bear claws.

Superior’s hallmark item, the glazed croissant, is always on hand. Some patrons enjoy theirs plain, but others choose a favorite filling such as chocolate, lemon, or peach. The glazed croissants are sold like donuts – individually or by the dozen. The bakery often has a line, but samples are often plentiful and offered freely to ease the wait. To see daily specials, follow on Facebook.

Fun for the Entire Family

Dirtbag Ales Brewery & Taproom, a family and dog-friendly brewery, sits on a large lot just off I-95 in Hope Mills. The facility boasts not only a brewery with up to 18 brews on tap but also a large playground, a field for soccer, and a dog park.

With plenty of open space and a shady yard, the brewery is a family favorite on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Bring your chairs, blankets, family, friends, and pups. Secure a shady spot, grab lunch from a food truck or one of the two on-site restaurants, and spend a lazy afternoon.

Look no further than Stop Button Bar for a unique entertainment experience.  Classic arcade games from the 80s and 90s line the walls alongside more recent games, and they are all free to play. That’s right! For a small admission fee, all games at Stop Button are free to play.  Open daily, Stop Button Bar is open to guests under 18 throughout the week. After 9 pm on Friday and Saturday, admission is limited to anyone over 18 years old.

Putt-Putt Golf started in Fayetteville in 1954 when Don Clayton built the first course in Fayetteville. The games were just 25 cents each and the course was packed.   He opened several courses around the community and the company soon began franchising its branded miniature golf game and Putt-Putt spread across the country.

Today Cumberland County is home to one franchise, Putt-Putt Golf & Games at the Millstone Complex in Hope Mills. It’s the perfect place for an afternoon of family fun or an outing for two.  Visitors can choose from two 18-hole Putt-Putt® Golf courses, a large arcade, a go-kart track, bumper boats, and a two-story laser tag arena.  Putt-Putt has weekly and daily multi-attraction specials.

Hope Mills Lake is the perfect place for families to spend a day or even just a few hours. Pick a nice day and spread out your blanket and enjoy the ambiance. Spend a day, fishing, boating, sunbathing, playing beach games, or just relaxing with a good book. Arrive in the early morning and catch the kayakers, paddle boarders, and canoers heading out for a few hours.  Cool down with a Snoball from Big-Ts. It may take you a few minutes to choose a flavor from the panel full of options.

Shop Local

Enter Bath Snob and you’ll leave feeling like family. The ladies behind Bath Snob take the time to talk about their products and help you sample your options.  Choose from salt scrubs, body butter, shower steamers, soap, hand cream, bath bombs, candles and much more.  Shoppers sensitive to fragrances won’t have issues with the Bath Snob scents - every product is all natural and handmade in-house without any harsh chemicals. So, stop by and make some new friends while you sample new scents.

If you enjoy shopping for homemade products, make time to visit The Front Porch Southern Decor. Most of the products are hand-made, either by the owners themselves or other local vendors. Owners strive to offer products that will extend southern hospitality such as wreaths, door hangers, jewelry, clothes, refinished furniture, decorations, food, and more.  Christmas is a great time to visit – the store is filled with homemade ornaments and decorations. You’ll be sure to find something for almost anyone on your list.
