Fayetteville Outer Loop construction requires overnight closure

By Staff Report, posted 1 year ago

A section of Camden Road in southwestern Cumberland County is scheduled to be closed nightly this week for construction.

Weather permitting, the closure west of Rockfish Road will start Monday, May 6 and be in effect from 8:30 p.m. until 5 the next morning through Friday, May 10.

The closure at Champs Court is needed so contract crews can relocate water and sewer lines for the Fayetteville Outer Loop (Interstate 295) project in this vicinity.

While Camden Road is closed each night, detour signs will direct drivers onto Waldo’s Beach, King and Rockfish roads.

This phase of the Outer Loop stretches five miles from Camden Road closer to Hope Mills to just south of Raeford Road in Fayetteville. Work began in 2022 and is scheduled to be complete by the summer of 2026.
