After 35 faithful years of serving Fayetteville, a familiar seafood restaurant has announced it has closed its doors permanently.
Country Fish Fry located at 3307 Fort Bragg Road, was known for serving fried fish, shrimp, whiting and more. The restaurant announced on April 23 in a post on Facebook that they had made the decision to close permanently.
The company shared a statement that reads in part:
“This is not a decision we ever imagined having to make, but it is time. Our focus needs to be on family.
Country Fish Fry has always been more than just a restaurant—it has been a place built on hard work, tradition, and love, originally started by our father and carried on through the years by Yiotta. She has dedicated her life to continuing his legacy and making this restaurant what it is. We are beyond grateful for everything she has poured into this business and into this community.”

The same day, Owner Yiotta Hasty also shared a message through a “Wise Words with Yiotta” Facebook post which reads:
“Closing this chapter is bittersweet. To our loyal customers—you gave us more than business; you gave us purpose, connection, and a true sense of community. We’re deeply grateful you chose to be part of something that meant so much to us.
This was never just a workplace—it was a shared experience, built together day by day. To our incredible team, thank you for your dedication, your energy, and for helping create something that went beyond the ordinary. You weren’t just part of the work—you were part of the heart behind it.
I will always appreciate what we built together, and I will truly miss each and every one of you.”
The Facebook page for Country Fish fry is still active, and community members continue to share their memories and support following the announcement.
