New School of Medicine to hold open house for entire community

All community members, prospective students, healthcare professionals, educators and local leaders are invited to experience North Carolina’s newest medical school during the Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine Open House on Thursday, July 9, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the School of Medicine (SOM) facility located at 3518 Village Drive, Fayetteville, N.C. 28304.

The free event offers guests an opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art medical education facility, explore innovative learning spaces and learn more about the School of Medicine’s mission to improve healthcare outcomes throughout Cumberland County and all of Southeastern North Carolina.

Attendees will have the chance to view the School of Medicine’s advanced simulation and clinical skills training areas, connect with faculty and staff and learn about the institution’s unique approach to preparing future physicians through community-engaged, evidence-based medical education.

The Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine represents a transformative partnership between Methodist University and Cape Fear Valley Health. The school is focused on developing socially accountable, compassionate physician leaders who are committed to serving rural and underserved communities across the region.

“I’m very excited that we are able to welcome the public to the school. Since we are a community-based institution, it’s so important that we can open our space and engage with folks in the area,” said Director of Admissions & Recruitment at the SOM Alex Little in a press release.

Guests are encouraged to stop by anytime between 3 and 6 p.m. to tour the facility and learn more about the School of Medicine’s educational programs, mission and impact on the future of healthcare in the region.
